Help to preserve the patron saints

The patron saints of Naumburg Cathedral, St Peter and St Paul, stood on the east choir for centuries and thus shaped the image of the cathedral. In 2021, they were taken down as part of renovation work, as the centuries had left their mark and both figures were badly damaged. But Naumburg Cathedral cannot do without its patron saints. Duplicates are to be placed in the place of the originals.

The sculptor Tillmann Richter was found for this in a competition. Thanks to your help, 112,000 euros have already been raised for the project, which will cost a total of 200,000 euros. We would like to thank you very much for this! Tillmann Richter, who has already found a suitable stone in Italy, was thus able to begin his work. In addition, another fundraising project was launched with the Förderverein Welterbe an Saale und Unstrut e. V. (Saale and Unstrut World Heritage Association) in the form of a donation board. In order to continue financing and realising this unique project, we still need your help. Every donation helps to preserve the patron saints and to place new figures on the east choir, which can stand protectively on the cathedral for centuries to come.
