By bicycle
Probably the most impressive journey you will experience by bike. Naumburg is located on one of the most beautiful routes for cyclists in Germany, the Saale Cycle Path. It stretches 403 km from the spring of the Saale in the Fichtelgebirge mountains to the mouth of the Saale near Barby. Along forests and meadows, castles, monasteries and vineyards, you will experience the most romantic side of central Germany.
By train
Naumburg can be reached using regional services from Erfurt, Gera, Halle (Saale), Jena and Leipzig. The local train, bus and tram network offers efficient and comfortable transport within the Saale-Unstrut region. A taxi rank is located directly outside the Hauptbahnhof (main railway station) Naumburg Cathedral can be reached on foot in around 15 to 20 minutes.
We would also recommend travelling to the cathedral on one of Naumburg’s historic trams. From the main station, take the tram as far as Jägerplatz then take the short walk to the cathedral through the narrow streets of the old town or travel as far as Curt-Becker-Platz if you have time and wander along Jakobstraße, through the market and up Herrenstraße before reaching the cathedral along Steinweg.
Naumburg Cathedral participates in the bonus program of Deutsche Bahn. Upon presentation of a current DB and MDV ticket, you will receive a 10 percent discount on the admission fare valid for you.
Naumburg Cathedral has been awarded the markMy Takt - Easy to reach in the national rail-bus network” valid in the state of Saxony-Anhalt indicating its accessibility by public transport.
