Sacred numbers play an important role in the Bible. In contrast to mathematical numbers, which have a purely formal function, symbolic numbers were virtually "loaded" with meaning and can appear as symbols, metaphors or even in the structure of buildings. Numbers explain and order the world then as now.
Using the example of Naumburg Cathedral and exhibits from the cathedral treasure vault, the number symbolism of the Middle Ages is vividly explained.
