ATTENTION: Due to weather conditions, the cathedral garden will be closed from 31 May to 2 June. The Naumburg Masters Market and the special guided tour cannot take place.
The almost one-hectare garden area is located directly behind the west choir. Picturesque ponds, blossoming nature and the gardens of the former canons' houses are combined between medieval walls and bastions. Part of the tree-filled park is the "Garden of the Naumburg Master". Native plants from the Saale-Unstrut region are presented here to great effect. They served the creator of the west choir and west rood screen in the 13th century as a model for the approximately 200 botanically precisely identifiable filigree foliage works on the capitals, friezes and keystones. Discover the botanical inspirations of today's World Heritage Site during the special guided tour.
Please buy a ticket in time via our Online shop or contact us via our visitor centre every Friday at 6.30 pm from the end of June to the end of October.
The special tour takes place as part of the event "Rendezvous in the Garden - Days of Parks and Gardens" will take place. From 31 May to 2 June 2024, we invite you to explore the historic Naumburg Cathedral Garden and discover the inspirations of the Naumburg Master.
