On Saturday, November 19, at 7 p.m., on the occasion of Schütz's 350th death anniversary, a concert with the performance of the "Musikalische Exequien" and motets by Heinrich Schütz will take place in Naumburg Cathedral. In addition to vocal soloists such as the renowned Dresden soprano Heidi Maria Taubert, the young Leipzig bass-baritone Lars Conrad and the Halle alto Christina Mattaj, the Naumburg Chamber Choir will sing, accompanied by the baroque orchestra "Musici d'Numburg", which will play on instruments of old scale. Cathedral cantor KMD Jan-Martin Drafehn is the conductor.
A counterpoint to the works of Heinrich Schütz will be a three-part performance "Der Klang der Erde ist Friede - Musik auf dem Grundton der Erde 194,18 Hz." by the Potsdam-based cellist Veronika Otto. In addition, the concert is also dedicated to the longtime Naumburg Cathedral cantor and composer Reinhard Ohse, who passed away this summer shortly before his 92nd birthday. Among other works by Reinhard Ohse, his "Beatitudes" will be heard.
Tickets for the concert are available in advance at the cathedral box office or then at the box office.
