Celebration of the Easter Vigil with opening of the Marian altar

The Naumburg Cathedral Choir invites you to a celebration of the Easter Vigil with a processional through the cathedral and Taizé songs, arranged by the youth choir of the Naumburg Cathedral Singing School and members of the Naumburg Cathedral Choir under the direction of Cathedral Cantor KMD Jan-Martin Drafehn.

The Marian altar, which was closed at the beginning of Passiontide on 17 February 2024, will also be reopened as part of the service. As the Passiontide in the Protestant church stands for the examination of the Passion of Jesus and the west choir and west rood screen of Naumburg Cathedral have always been dedicated to the theme of Christ's Passion, the altar of the Virgin Mary was subjected to the liturgical change.
