Digital scaffold guidance

From December 2017 until the beginning of 2021, extensive glass restoration work was carried out on the windows in the west and east choirs at Naumburg Cathedral. After the completion of the restoration project in the east choir, the head of visitor services, Kirsten Reichert, used the scaffolding in the east choir to record a digital guided tour of the restored windows. She explains the challenges of the restoration, special motifs and new research findings on the windows.

The restoration of the windows in the west and east choir was financed by:

  • Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and Media (BKM)
  • State of Saxony-Anhalt
  • Ostdeutsche Sparkassenstiftung together with Sparkasse Burgenlandkreis
  • Rudolf August Oetker Foundation
  • Ernst-von-Siemens-Kunststiftung with a patron
