Mobility
Naumburg Cathedral is barrier-free. Access to the nave and cloister is step-free. Stairs lead to the east choir and the crypt, individual steps lead to the west choir and smaller chapels. There are disabled-accessible toilets in the cloister as well as the cathedral treasury and access to the cathedral garden. The cathedral treasury vault and the exhibition are accessible via a lift. The lift also guarantees access to the „Path and Works of the Naumburg Master“ exhibition and the cathedral library. The network of paths in the cathedral garden is designed in such a way that almost all areas are easily accessible. You can also hire wheelchairs for your visit to the cathedral at the visitor ticket office. There is a bell in front of the visitors' entrance. When you press it, the visitor service staff will be happy to help you gain access and open the doors.
Visually-impaired and Hearing-impaired
The audio guide provides detailed information on Naumburg Cathedral and its highlights such as the West Choir with its twelve donor statues, the oldest stone sculpture of St Elizabeth or the new window designed by Neo Rauch in the Chapel of St Elizabeth and other works of art. The Cathedral Treasury Vault with its distinguished artistic and cultural artefacts is also described in great detail.
Art to touch: The hand rails designed by Heinrich Apel at the entrance to the East Choir “St Francis and the animals” and “The narrow path to paradise” can be touched by visitors in all their detail.
