For the Literature Festival "14. Literaturherbst an Saale, Unstrut und Elster", we expect Freya Klier and Lothar Tautz for a reading in Naumburg Cathedral. They will present the book "Wir sind das Volk! Oder?".

The wall had fallen and a new, united Germany was born, the jubilation was overwhelming. Finally freedom, prosperity and democracy for all Germans! But shortly after the fall of the Berlin Wall the shock came: unemployment, migration to the West and a lack of prospects caught up with the people. Germany united, but still divided - economically, politically, socially. What role did Treuhand play in the decline of the East German economy? Why were there suddenly so many right-wing radicals in the East? And how did the unification of East and West develop? Contemporary witnesses remember and take stock. Freya Klier brings together voices from East and West, with contributions from Reiner Kunze, Peter Tauber, Wolfgang Thierse and Norbert Lammert, among others.
